Does Autism Qualify for Medical Marijuana in Ohio?
Although Autism Spectrum Disorder was not originally a qualifying condition under Ohio's Medical Marijuana Program, that may soon change thanks to a recommendation by the State Medical Board. Learn more on how to schedule you appointment today!
The Medical Board is tasked with reviewing petitions for new qualifying conditions once a year, and this year's review process might result in medical marijuana becoming available to patients suffering from autism. In May, the subcommittee of the Medical Board tasked with reviewing new conditions rejected Depression, Insomnia, and Opioid Abuse Disorder, but they did recommend approval for Anxiety and Autism. Ultimately, neither Anxiety nor Autism were added from last year's petition period.
This year's petition period to add qualifying conditions to Ohio's medical marijuana program ended on December 31, 2019. The State of Ohio Medical Board is currently reviewing a number of qualifying conditions to add to Ohio's program, including autism.
