Ohio Marijuana Card in the News!

Updated: Apr 6, 2023

Allen Henry of Fox 45/ABC 22 Dayton stopped by our recently opened Beavercreek location to discuss the state of medical marijuana in Ohio, as well as how our certified doctors help patients get their medical marijuana recommendation.

He spoke with Randy Shaffer, marketing manager at Ohio Marijuana Card (and writer of this blog, just FYI). He outlined the process for how patients get their medical marijuana recommendation. "They'll do a quick, brief, non-invasive exam. Look over the records, make a determination, this is a qualifying patient and then they write the recommendation to them," Shaffer said.

Fox 45 also spoke with a patient who expressed their fond affection for medical marijuana, and how much better it worked for them over opiods.

"You give me that bag of weed and I can do anything. I can walk a line, I can do anything," the patient said. "I've got chronic pain, my back hurts all the time. But when I smoke pot, I don't even think about it. It doesn't even cross my mind. When I was on opiates, that's all that was in mind: where's the next pill, when am I going to get it. "

Ohio Marijuana Card provides recommendations for medical marijuana to patients suffering from one of the 21 medical conditions approved by the state. This recommendation is required in order to receive a medical marijuana card from the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.

Once you have seen a state-certified medical marijuana doctor and have your recommendation, it is sent off to the Board of Pharmacy. From there, they register you as a medical marijuana patient and send out an official medical marijuana card.

This card (as well as your recommendation) will get you inside dispensaries throughout the state. To find an Ohio medical marijuana dispensary near you, check out our handy maps. And as always, stay tuned for more news and updates!
